Going to Sao Paolo!!

Hey Everyone-

The spring/summer/fall/winter tour season is really heating up and I'm pleased to say that I'll be in Sao Paolo, Brazil this August for the annual Book Fair!

THE SOUL SEEKERS will be published by LeYa Brazil, and they're sending me to Sao Paolo to launch the first book in the series, FATED!

I had such an amazing time on my visit to Brazil last year, and I cannot wait to see my lovely Brazilian readers again!

In other tour news . . .

Next week I'll be in Chicago, IL for the annual RT Book Lovers Convention, and I'll be signing copies of my books on Saturday, April 14 from 11AM - 2PM, as well as taking part in all of the fun Teen Day festivities that follow! Last year's Teen Day was truly amazing, and this year's promises to be even better, so I really hope to see you there! More details on my convention schedule HERE - More details on Teen Day HERE.

The 4th RILEY BLOOM book, WHISPER, is set to pub on 04.24.12, but I'll be signing early copies at the LA TImes Festival of Books on Sunday, April 22! At 10:30 AM I'll be on stage, taking part in a panel called "In the Middle- Tweenage Fantasy" alongside amazing authors Cornelia Funke and John Stephens, and directly afterwards I'll be signing copies of my books! Come May, I'll be heading out on tour to launch the first book in THE SOUL SEEKERS series, FATED and I'll be making stops in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, & Utah (I call it the 4 Corners Tour!). All the details are HERE - I really hope to see you there!

Well, I'm back from my amazing Brazilian Book Tour, facing down loads of laundry and going through serious coconut water and samba withdrawals!

DREAMLAND In Stores Now!!!!

Hey Everyone-

I'm so excited to announce that book #3 in the RILEY BLOOM series, DREAMLAND, is now in stores!!

As I've said before, Riley is one of my favorite characters to write, and DREAMLAND was no exception!

In it, Riley's finding that the afterlife can be a lonely place when all you do is focus on work. So she goes to the place where dreams happen, hoping to find a way to contact her sister, Ever. She meets the director, who tells her about the two ways to send dreams. As a Dream Jumper, a person can jump into a dreamer's dream, share a message, and participate. As a Dreamweaver, an entire dream can be created in a studio and sent to the dreamer. But Dreamweaving was outlawed decades ago, and the studio was boarded up. Thinking it's her only way to reach out to her sister, Riley goes in search of the old studio. There she finds a ghost boy, who's been creating and sending nightmares to people for years. In order to stop him and reach out to Ever, Riley is going to have to confront and overcome her own fears.

Brazil & Other Exciting Miscellanea!

This has been in the works for a while and I'm so excited to finally announce that I'm headed for the Brazilian Book Fair in September!! My Brazilian readers have been so amazing in their support of The Immortals series--and I can't wait to meet all of them!

Also, I did a really fun interview over at BSC Kids where I talk about The Immortals, Riley Bloom, and more--you can see it HERE!!

And, don't forget to save the date for the amazing RT Teen Day happening Saturday, April 9 at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, CA!!

The signing takes place from 11 - 2 and costs $5 at the door.

So I just got the awesome news, that SHIMMER, book 2 in the Riley Bloom series, has hit the New York Times Bestsellers list, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU for all of your support!! Riley is one of my absolute favorite characters to write, and your support of her really means the world to me--I couldn't do it without you!!

Today is the official release day for SHIMMER, and I couldn't be more excited!

SHIMMER is the second book in the Riley Bloom series (DREAMLAND, book 3, will be in stores on 09.13.11!), where Riley, Buttercup, and Bodhi are enjoying a well-deserved vacation on St. John, Virgin Island, when Riley comes across a young ghost named Rebecca, and soon learns Rebecca's not at all what she sees. The daughter of a former plantation owner, she is furious about being murdered during a slave revolt in 1733. Mired in her own anger, Rebecca is keeping the ghosts who died along with her trapped in their worst memories, and it's up to Riley to help Rebecca without losing herself to her own nightmarish memories . . .

Just like the first book in the series, RADIANCE-- SHIMMER was a blast to write! Riley is one of my favorite characters to spend time with as she's so spunky and sassy, but also has a really soft vulnerability about her as well--she's a bundle of contradictions, for sure!

Ooblek!!

After looking at these pictures, you cannot be blamed for asking yourself:

What is this man doing?

Well, the answer, dear reader, is:

Ooblek.

That man has made himself a big bowl of Ooblek--which, for those of you who missed that day in science class or summer camp--or, skipped that particular Dr. Seuss book where it found its fame, you can learn more about it and get the recipe to make your own bowl of Ooblek HERE.

So why should you even bother with making Ooblek, thinking about Ooblek, reading any further about Ooblek, much less clicking that link??

Because Ooblek is not only fascinating and fun, but it provides a really important life lesson as well. One that twelve-year-old Soul Catcher, Riley Bloom, is forced to confront during the course of her latest, tropical island, Soul Catching, adventure in SHIMMER (in stores 03.15.11!)!

You see, Ooblek is both soft and liquidy, which would seem as though you should be able to make a fist and pound your way through it, right?

But Ooblek, like life, will not be forced. If you try to pound your way through it, you won't make a dent, your fist will not only not penetrate, but will actually bounce back!

But if you soften your fingers and tread gently, your hand will easily find its way through, all the way to your final destination--er, the bottom of the bowl.

So go ahead, make yourself some Ooblek and try it for yourself! And for added fun, add a little food coloring to really jazz it up!
