Eight Alyson Factoids

I've been tagged! Actually, it was awhile ago (hey, I've been busy!), and THIS lady's to blame! But all it requires is for me to list eight of my most dirtiest little secrets, so here goes:

1) Birthday cake is medicinal. I’m completely convinced of this, which is why I never turn down a piece.

2) The first time I laid eyes on my husband I knew he was “the one” even though I didn’t believe in things like that at the time.

3) My husband and I once ordered fried crickets in a restaurant out of curiosity. They were very, very crispy.

4) Every time I watch Flight of the Conchords I secretly try to decide which one I’d choose as my desert Island companion—Brett or Jermaine??? I can never decide.

5) When I like a song, I tend to play it over and over (and over!) again.

6) I can’t pronounce the word “thing.” It comes out sounding like “theen.”

7) I eat pizza with a fork and knife, but only because I have an open bite (my front teeth don’t meet) and not because I’m trying to be all fancy.

8) I believe in silver linings.

Okay, now you know all about me--so now it's your turn--tell me something strange, wonderful, secret, or fascinating about YOU!

2 Nite

So I just learned that my next book-- CRUEL SUMMER-- is scheduled for a Spring/Summer 2008 release--and I couldn't be happier!

It's the story of Colby, a seventeen year old girl on the verge of having the best summer of her life, when her parent's decide to get divorced and pack her off to live with her "crazy aunt Tally" on a tiny Greek Island. . .

I had so much fun writing this book--and I hope you enjoy reading it! I'll be sure to post cover photos and news, as I receive them!

But, concerning more recent events--- tonight I will be here:

Alyson Noel, author of "Fly Me to the Moon," Kiss & Blog," and "Laguna Cove" will discuss writing fiction, followed by coffee and conversation.

Left To Tell

Last night I had the privilege of seeing Immaculee Ilibagiza speak at a local high school and I was transformed by the experience. If you're unfamiliar with her story- this is the nut shell version:

In 1994, Rwandan native Ilibagiza was 22 years old and home from college to spend Easter with her family when the death of Rwanda's Hutu president sparked a three-month slaughter of nearly one million ethnic Tutsis. She survived by hiding in a Hutu pastor's tiny, 3 feet by 4 feet bathroom with seven other women for 91 days. When she finally emerged, weighing just 65 pounds, with only the clothes on her back- her family slaughtered, her home and all of her possessions destroyed- she managed to heal herself by doing the seemingly unimaginable-- forgiving her perpetrators.

Immaculees story is one of incredible perseverance--her message uplifting and inspiring-- and I left feeling grateful for EVERYTHING I have.

Her book, LEFT TO TELL, is one I can't wait to read!

I Luv Canada!!

I'm am so completely honored and excited to say that SAVING ZOE has been chosen as a "Favorite Read" by Ms. Emma-Lee Kramer, a Junior Advisory Board member for Canada's largest book retailer-- Chapters, Indigo, Coles!!! Which means not only did she write an AMAZING review that brought tears to my eyes, but that my book will be prominently displayed in all eighty stores!

Since I wrote SAVING ZOE after experiencing a period of profound grief--losing three people I loved in very short succession, and facing the serious illness of others-- I couldn't be happier than to know that this story is reaching an audience. . .

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Emma!

To read her awesome review click HERE

Her Name is Rio and She. . .???

How would you finish the title of this post? Would you say--

A) Dances on the Sand . . .

B) Is an Art Geek . . .

C) Is a Prom Queen. . .

Well, if you read the book than that question may not be all that tough-- but I just came across a quiz that an ART GEEKS AND PROM QUEENS expert (and no, it wasn't me!) put together and it's both fun and tough-- I just took it myself and actually had to stop and think about some of those answers!!

So, if you're up for playing just click HERE!

And then come back and let me know how you scored!

Good Luck!
Alyson
