This Weekend

If you don't live in So Cal, please know that I've no intention of bragging, but today is such a freaking beautiful day here in Laguna Beach (high of 76!) I can hardly believe it! And since I have a friend visiting from out of town, it's the perfect day to show her around and pretend that January is always like this!

But wherever you are, and whatever you've got planned, make sure to set some time aside to sign up at this week's FREE BOOK FRIDAY- where the awesome Ms. Brody is giving away two mystery novels by Roberta Islieb on the adult side, HERE.

And five copies of Alexa Young's FRENEMIES, the first book in her awesome new series, on the teen side, HERE.

Have a fun weekend everyone!!

Finally Friday . . .

So yesterday I had a great time talking with Sarah Bean, Tween and Teen librarian extraordinaire over at the Library Center in Springfield Mo. And right in the middle of our conference call they received a tornado warning and had to go! But then she called back soon after to report that they were all fine-- whew, what a relief! And a big THANKS! to everyone who braved the weather and participated in the call!

Also, I just came across this on my internet time wasting travels, er, while conducting serious research. It's a fun quiz called, Which SAVING ZOE Character Are You?

So of course I took it and found out that I'm Echo. Which wasn't all that surprising since I created her and she was the character I identified with the most. But still, last time I took one of these quizzes on ART GEEKS AND PROM QUEENS I didn't exactly ace it--and when I went back to check the answers against the book-- I found out that I really was wrong!

Oh, and the picture above was taken at a Barnes & Noble near Houston by the fabulous Ms. Jessica Brody who is currently on tour for her remarkable debut novel, THE FIDELITY FILES. If you haven't read this book yet, well, you should, it's a really great read!

Anyway, it's a glorious day in Laguna, but I'm going to stay inside and work. But I'm actually looking forward to it, since I'm entering an exciting part of the story.

What about you--any weekend plans??

Safety Dress

So last night I stopped by the Katharine Story boutique in Laguna Beach to do a little browsing, a little chatting, and a little gawking--see below:

Those are photos of a gorgeous model wearing a condom dress which was auctioned off in support of health education programs for Orange County and San Bernardino. And while I didn't go home with the dress (wasn't sure where I would wear it), I did go home with one of Katharine Story's amazing designs!

And today I went to South Gate High School where I spoke with some wonderful students, hung out with teacher extraordinaire- Ms. Benn, and had so much fun I forgot to take pictures

:-(

And even though I forgot to document it, the students couldn't have been nicer or more attentive! And so I donated signed copies of FAKING 19, ART GEEKS AND PROM QUEENS, LAGUNA COVE, KISS & BLOG, SAVING ZOE, and even a copy of CRUELSUMMER (which isn't even in stores yet--though it will be soon- May 27!) to the school library. All in all a great day!

Have a fun weekend everyone!
