Here Comes the Sun

Every three months my husband has to go to the City of Hope so they can draw his blood and make sure he's still in remission. And since it's kind of far, and kind of a not so pleasant thing to do (well, the drawing blood part anyway--the remission is a very good thing!), I always join him on these trips and after we go to a movie, a museum, the horse races, whatever, we make it a "date."

So yesterday was "date day."  And we set off from the desert where we'd been staying, in the 106 degree heat, only to discover we had a broken air conditioner and hours of freeway before us!

We fiddled with the vent,  the controls, but nothing more than a trickle of warmish air came through. And by the time we arrived we were two dripping puddles of sweat and all we could do was laugh! Then on the way out we decided to skip the second act in favor of returning home to swap out cars and clothes, though we still managed to have a really great third act in an awesome dinner, HERE.

But it got me wondering-- how did I survive my air conditioning-free childhood? Those long family drives when I was relegated to the back seat alongside my sisters, legs sticking to the vinyl, windows rolled down, but not complaining near as much as I fear I did yesterday.  Not to mention those hot summer nights spent by the nearest open window, praying for a breeze so I might get some sleep.

Has my complete and total reliance on all these modern conveniences of dual control heat and air made me soft?

I fear the answer is yes.

But, now that the car's in the shop, and all is well (and cool!) again, I thought I'd share this:

This is a reader letter I received today, that made my day! I mean, seriously, how cute is that?

And, I also received this:

I swear, it's like Christmas in June!  That is the ARC for Kay Cassidy's up and coming new series: THE CINDERELLA SOCIETY, and I cannot wait to read it!  Though I should note that the cover is much nicer in person than the picture implies--that glaring, white, shiny spot is totally due to my lack of photographic skills!

Oh, and in case you didn't know, Kay is also the genius behind the Great Scavenger Hunt where you can win all manner of prizes and books and which you can learn all about by clicking HERE!

And speaking of winning--I'm giving away 5 signed copies of BLUE MOON over at Free Book Friday Teens!  And everyone who signs up will receive exclusive BLUE MOON content which cannot be found anywhere else on the web!! Oh, and you can listen to a podcast interview where I answer reader question too!  All you have to do to get started is click HERE.  But hurry, the contest ends Friday!!

Now I've got to get back to work on UNTITLED IMMORTALS BOOK #4, so bye for now!

Have a good day everyone!

Thank You Story Siren!!!

Oh, I'm just gobsmacked!!  Look what The Story Siren had to say about BLUE MOON:

"Blue Moon was incredible. If you thought Evermore was full of suspense and unknowns, just wait until you read Blue Moon. Noel surpassed all expectations I had for the sequel, if this is a preview to how the rest of the series will be, we all in for a huge treat.

The plot was insane, and I mean that in a good way. Noel took this novel in a direction I was never expecting, resulting in an emotional roller coaster ride that I never wanted to end. It was so cleverly pieced, so intricately meshed, I never saw it coming. Fabulous.

Pieces of Damen’s history are revealed as well as some glimpses in to Ever’s previous lives. I have to admit that was one of my favorite aspects of the story. Damen’s character was displayed on a whole new level in this novel, if you didn’t feel a connection with him in Evermore, you’ll be sure to in Blue Moon. Not to mention the new incredibly enticing characters introduced; Roman, Romy and Rayne.

Evermore was good, but Blue Moon is phenomenal. If you’re looking for a new fantasy series that’s worth reading, be sure to check out the Immortals series."- The Story Siren

I'm Back!!!

For those of you who thought I was taking a break and/or being lazy--for once that wasn't the case.

My blog has been broken--refusing to publish posts and comments--since, well June 3--yikes!!!

But it seems my trusty tech guru (shout out to Brittney!) has fixed it, so I'm back to blogging!

Oh, and for those of you who left comments but don't see them here--rest assured that I read them all as blogger still e-mailed the notifications--and though I have no way to respond, I thank you all for your kind words.

But now there's soooo much to catch up on, I'm not even sure where to start. Though if you're my Mysapce, Facebook, or Twitter friend, this might be a little redundant so bear with me!

First- BLUE MOON will be out in ------wait for it------12 days!!!!

I know, I can't even believe it! And I'm thrilled that it's getting some really great early reviews and a lot of early readers have contacted me to tell me they like it better than EVERMORE, so-Woo Hoo!!!
Below is a picture of the EVERMORE and BLUE MOON cakes my publisher had made for me at a champagne reception on a recent trip to NYC. And even though they look far too purdy to eat--that didn't stop me. And let me just say they were deeee-lish!

Also, the BLUE MOON trailer is up!! I will probably do a direct post from YouTube soon, but for now you can watch it HERE.

And if you live in the Chicago area--well, I was in town recently and signed a huge stack of EVERMORES at the Borders Books on Michigan Avenue--so if you want a signed copy, head down to the basement where the YA section lives.

And I'm thrilled to say that as of yesterday, EVERMORE has now been in the top 5 on the New York Times Bestseller list for Children's Paperbacks for 5 months straight! It's also been on the USA Today and Publisher's Weekly lists for the same--and I can't thank YOU enough for all of your support!

Also, Turkish rights to both books were recently sold so--Viva Istanbul!!

And, last but not least I am thrilled to announce that I've agreed to write another book in THE IMMORTALS series (for a total of six!) and that Riley (Ever's ghostly sister) will get her own series, debuting in Fall 2010!!!

And just some random notes:

- If you're in NYC go see HAIR, because not only is it awesome, but at the end you get to dance on stage with the cast members!!!

- The Book Chick has a rockin' Summer Reading List you can see HERE

- I'm on Wikipedia!! Here.

- I did a really cool interview HERE (just under the amazing Charlaine Harris!)

Oh, and there's more -- so much more!!!

But all in good time . . .

Have a great day everyone!!

Anyway, I'm just really excited to share that I made the cover of OC Arts & Culture!!! You can see it HERE!

Oh, and I just learned that EVERMORE is at #3 this week on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Children's Paperbacks--making 17 weeks on the list!!

5 Star Gold Award for BLUE MOON!!!

This just in--an awesome review for BLUE MOON and the TeensReadToo 5 Star Gold Award too!!!

Yippeee!!!!!!!

Here's an excerpt:

"I really enjoy sequels, but they make me nervous, especially when I loved the first book as much as I did EVERMORE. But Alyson Noel surpassed all my expectations, and not only is BLUE MOON an amazing sequel- it sets the bar for the rest of this series very, very high! When I reached the last page of this one, all I could say was "wow!" . . . Another highly recommended book from Alyson Noel, I can't wait to read more about Ever and Damen. THE IMMORTALS series is one you'll want to get your hands on!"- 5 Star Gold Award, Sarah Bean for TeensReadToo

Catching Up!

(From L to R: Mary Pearson, Marlene Perez, Debborah Lytton, Kathryn Fitzmaurice, Alyson Noel, Debby Garfinkle)

Busy Weekend.

Busy-Busy-Weekend!!

First, the Romance Divas chat was a blast! The perfect way to procrastinate on all the things I was supposed to be doing--so thanks to all of you who stopped by and kept me appropriately busy and entertained and thoroughly distracted by your excellent questions!

Also, the multi-author book signing at Laguna Beach Books was a lot of fun!! I met so many awesome people: the twins & their mom--the girls from Thurston with their mom--Chloe-I forgot to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY--so here's a late HAPPY BIRTHDAY--and since it's impossible to list everyone I'll just say that the conversations were great, the company was great, the store was awesome, the staff amazing,  so I'll just stop right there and give a big, overall, blanket THANKS to everyone who stopped by!

And today my editor made my day by sending me this from RT Magazine (still haven't gotten mine yet--hello, mailperson--what gives??!), who gave BLUE MOON 4 stars and says:

“In the second installment of the bestselling and captivating Immortals series, gutsy young heroine Ever is faced with the twin teenage terrors of isolation and alienation.  Noel does an excellent job exploring Ever’s growing fears and her determination to save lost love Damen. This author is on a roll!” (4 stars) –Romantic Times

And then this just came in from The Book Chick who says:

" . . .It is the mark of a daring writer to defy expectations and Alyson Noel does that to the power of ten in “Blue Moon.” I guarantee you will have no idea what’s coming in the second book of the series while Alyson Noel surprises you with a big, fat twist and leaves you wanting more, more, more."

To read the whole review (warning, there's a few spoilers!) click HERE.

Also, today I received the BLUE MOON cover flats in the mail (thank you mailperson-you rock!), and they are GORGEOUS!!!

Seriously, GORGEOUS!!!

The St. Martin's Art Department does amazing work!

Also, I got a sneak peek at something very exciting that is in the works for the IMMORTALS series, that hopefully, you guys will love as much as I do . . . details coming soon!!

Have a good night everyone!
