The Story

(Blog title courtesy of Brandi Carlile)

So, yesterday was a great day.

Not only did EVERMORE & BLUE MOON remain on the New York Times Bestsellers list for 36 & 14 weeks respectively, but I received, hot off the press, straight from my publisher, the finished, hard cover copy of SHADOWLAND!!!

And it's BEAUTIFUL!!!

Seriously. Beautiful.

I am in awe of the talented people in the St. Martin's art department--they really outdid themselves this time!!

(And no, I'm not giving it away--not even to my mom--it's too pretty--and it's mine-- all mine!!!)

In other IMMORTALS related news, I've recently learned that EVERMORE is also a bestseller in both the UK and Spain--so Rock On my transatlantic friends-- THANK YOU-THANK YOU-THANK YOU for that!!!

And I hear that today it's being released in France as ETERNELS-- Viva France!!!

Also, I wanted to remind you I'll be chatting with the ReaderGirlz, on Monday, October 19th from 6:00 -9:00 pm Eastern, in honor of YALSA Teen Read Week! So please stop by and say hi if you get the chance.

And speaking of dropping by . . . I'll be signing copies of EVERMORE, BLUE MOON, (and any other book with my name on the cover!), alongside Cinda Williams Chima on Monday, October 26th at:

Barnes & Noble
El Camino North Shopping Center
2615 Vista Way, Oceanside, CA 92054
(760) 529-0106

And I really, really hope to see you there!!

Oh, and yesterday I was over at Living Your Five, um, living my Five! So to find out what the car wash, Orlando Bloom, and holiday cards have in common, click HERE.

That's it for now--have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning Starshine

Above is the last of the Comic Con pictures. Or at least the last of my Comic Con pictures.

But truth be told this is actually Cindy Pon's comic con picture, (she's in the awesome costume, and Mary Pearson is to my right) and she was just kind enough to lend it to me!

So, in other, non-Comic Con related news, I'm giving away a signed copy of BLUE MOON over at The Book Butterfuly! For your chance to win, click HERE.

Also, I've just added some events to my roster: first up is the Readergirlz Chat on October 19 at 6PM Eastern to celebrate YALSA's Teen Read Week (Evermore is nominated for YALSA's Top Ten Award!).

Then on Monday, October 26th, I'll be signing books at the Barnes & Noble in Oceanside. But I don't have a time yet, so stay tuned!

And lastly, on May 15, 2010, I'll be headed out to Rochester, NY for their fabulous Teen Book Festival and I can't wait. (Even though I kind of have to wait since it's good ways away--but still)!

Oh, and I was so excited to see this nice review for BLUE MOON from Tynga's Urban Fantasy Reviews, who said:

"Blue Moon was totally amazing, even better then Evermore (which I really liked). I was so taken by Ever's emotion I was blinking back tears at more then one moment. I was so into the moment it was hard to bare to suspense and Ever's grief. The storyline is so well built it's insane, you really don't see the ending coming. I was completely shocked!Very well done Alyson the book is great and I can't wait to read Shadowland!"

Okay, back to playing with my iPhone- er, I mean work! Back to work!

Have a good day everyone!

Rock the Drop!

Ever since FAKING 19 hit the bookshelves in March '05, I've spent a lot of time in cancer wards, watching too many of my loved ones deal with the disease. And because of that, every time a new book of mine gets released, I donate a copy to the pediatric wing as well. So, I was thrilled when my awesome agent sent me the news about Operation Teen Book DROP (TBD)-- organized by YALSA and readergirlz.

TBD is a massive, coordinated release of 10,000 publisher-donated YA books into the top pediatric hospitals across the country on April 17, 2008, scheduled to coincide with Support Teen Literature Day.

But it's not just the publishers giving away books, as YA authors all around the country (the world!) will be dropping one of their books, somewhere in their community, in a place where teens congregate. I'll be dropping a copy of SAVING ZOE, and while I haven't decided just where I'll be leaving it, if you find a stray copy with the TBD bookplate inside, you're free to take it, read it, and pass it on or keep it-- up to you!

Though it's not limited to just authors and publishers, because anyone who wants to pass on a good teen book is free to participate! Just go HERE to see how it works!

And wait-- that's not all-- after the drop, there'll be an unprecedented online book bash: The TBD Post-Op Party- an online two-hour book party hosted at the readergirlz MySpace forum (http://groups.myspace.com/readergirlz), on April 17th (Support Teen Literature Day), at 6-8pm Pacific/9-11pm Eastern.

Note: you have to have a MySpace account in order to participate. The chat will be in a thread titled "TBD Post Op Party," and the readergirlz divas will be giving away books and prizes, chatting with teens, and offering hope!

I plan to be there-- I hope to see YOU there too!
