PRAISE FOR THE BEAUTIFUL IDOLS SERIES
"Noel cycles among the stories of Layla, Tommy, Aster, and Madison in a gossipy, third-person narrative that makes for addictive reading ..." -- Publisher's Weekly

"Noël aims for the celebrity-hungry chick-lit crowd and scores...Chick-lit gold." -Kirkus

Like its predecessor, this is tailor-made for readers interested in getting lost in the glitzy, sexy world of Hollywood stars. Best-selling Nöel won’t stay on shelves long, and another cliff-hanger ending means that those hanging on to find out the truth about Madison’s disappearance should fasten their seatbelts: this ride isn’t remotely over.- Booklist

"What do you get when you mix highly attractive teenagers, dreams of fame, secrets, lies, and a nightclub promotions contest? You get a page-turner reminiscent of reality TV: an addictive combination of Survivor and The Apprentice, set in L.A....This is a suspenseful, scandalous, and consumable novel that is sure to gain instant fandom and leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment. VERDICT: A must-have selection for older teens."
   —School Library Journal

This second installment picks up where the first volume left off and reveals the vulnerabilities of the characters either loved or loathed in Unrivaled. Whereas the previous entry reveled in the excess and dog-eat-dog world inhabited by the teens, in Blacklist the setting is the background for a good old-fashioned whodunit. The scandalous, gossipy tone of the first book is underscored as the teens grapple with the underbelly of fame, notoriety, and the realization that nothing is as it seems. Like its predecessor, this is a suspenseful page-turner that is teasingly addictive; it works as a stand-alone entry in the series and as a worthwhile sequel.–Tamela Chambers, Chicago Public Schools

"Not all of LA's beautiful people lead beautiful lives. Alyson Noël shows us with the details of an observant insider what they're really up to, late into the night. Like a good celebrity, Unrivaled is mysterious and compelling and so gorgeous you won't be able to look away."
—Cecily von Ziegesar, author of the Gossip Girl series
"This glitzy, suspenseful, shamelessly addictive read offers an all access pass to the glimmering world of Hollywood celebrity, where fame is a game, dark secrets are currency, and love doesn't come without a high price."
—Margaret Stohl, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Creatures
"Unrivaled will have you hooked from the very first page. Everything from the glitzy setting to the suspenseful plot is pure gold."
—Jamie McGuire, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Disaster
"If you love Pretty Little Liars, you'll love this sexy teen drama set against the backdrop of the glamorous LA club scene—where every choice poses a threat and nothing is what is seems."
—Kami Garcia, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Beautiful Creatures and author of Unbreakable
"Unrivaled is addictive! With a killer cliffhanger and twists around every corner, I couldn't stop reading this novel. Now I'm impatiently waiting for the second book in the Beautiful Idols series."
—Anna Todd, bestselling author of the After series

UNRIVALED in stores today!!!

Way back in the early days of 2014, I visited the Harper Collins Offices in NYC to meet my editors and celebrate the UNRIVALED deal. They had the conference room set up in a night club theme--disco ball included--and they even had an employee overseeing the door--luckily, I was on the list! I knew at that time that not only was I in good hands, but that this series would be fun to create. Turns out, I was right on both counts.

And now, fast forward to today when UNRIVALED is being ushered into the world in a 1-Day Global Laydown in 16 languages and 200 countries. I am beside myself with excitement!

I've written before about how after concluding the SOUL SEEKERS series I'd decided to take some time off to travel and refill the well, as they say. In publishing math, that made for 3 years between releases, so yeah, I'll admit that in addition to being excited I also might be freaking out just the tiniest bit!

Between 2005 - 2013, I released 21 books, contributed to 3 anthologies, went on countless domestic and international book tours spanning 6 continents, and I'm grateful for every single moment of it, and every amazing reader I've been in contact with along the way. There are many of you that I count as my friends, and I feel so lucky to be able to say that.

I also feel incredibly blessed that I get to create these stories for a living. I've wanted to be a writer since I was 12, but this journey has surpassed even my wildest dreams!

So, in the midst of all my excitement/freak out I wanted to take a moment to thank those of you who've been supporting me for years--I truly couldn't have done it without you! And also to welcome those who are just now discovering my books--I look forward to getting to know you!

I hope that when you read UNRIVALED, you'll come to love Layla, Tommy, Aster, and Madison as much as I have. And for my international readers, I am thrilled that you finally get to read the books at the same time as my US readers!

Thanks again for making this release day so special!

Peace * Joy * Love* Hugs to all of you!

IMMORTALS Movie Option!

True love never dies...

As an author, one of the questions I get asked the most is- "When is The Immortals going to become a movie?"

Well, after a bit of a hiatus, I finally have some news to share!

. . .

(Insert awkward drumroll here)

 . . .

The Immortals series has just been optioned for film!

Here's the Publisher's Marketplace announcement:

September 11, 2015
Film rights
NYT bestselling author Alyson Noel's THE IMMORTALS, to Gil Adler, producer of Valkyrie and Jason Rosenberg, by Bill Contardi at Brandt & Hochman.

As most of my readers know by now, The Immortals was inspired by a time of deep grief. I'd just lost 3 loved ones in a short time, only to learn that my husband had leukemia and I might lose him as well (he's in full remission now). I started writing the first book, Evermore as a way to try to make sense of my loss and find answers to all the questions I was grappling with at the time. I had no plans to publish it back then, I simply wrote it for me. It was only when I reached the end, that I realized it was merely the start of a much bigger journey, and I figured I may as well show it to my publisher and see if they were interested.

Leading up to its release, my expectations for Evermore were low. There was no book tour, no big publicity push, but somehow the readers managed to find it. And by the end of its first week in print it hit the New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly bestsellers lists, and was optioned for film. The series went on to spend 65 consecutive weeks on the New York Times list - 15 of those weeks at #1! It was translated into 36 languages, sold millions of copies, and became an international bestseller which allowed me to travel the world, doing book tours on 4 continents and meeting all the incredible readers and leaning their stories. The Immortals series changed my life in innumerable ways, and believe me, I don't say that to brag or gloat, I say it because as someone who grew up under extremely humble circumstances, I learned to keep my dreams small and contained. I didn't dare let myself dream quite that big. But life and The Immortals both taught me that the only limits I ever truly had, were the ones I placed on myself.

So yeah, I would love for The Immortals to become either a movie or a TV show. Not just because it would fulfill a dream of mine to see Summerland (and Damen, Roman, and Jude!) brought to life, but also to fulfill the wishes of so many fans who are always asking me if there's any movie news.

Well, today, there is! And I'm so excited to have producers Gil Adler and Jason Rosenberg on board. Here's hoping they're able to make it happen!

Peace * Joy * Love

Blog Roll!

So, hello!!

I hope your summer is treating you well, and yes, according to my last blog post it really has been six months since my last visit, and not only have I missed you, but so much has happened since then!

Like...I recently signed a three-book deal for a new YA series, UNRIVALED, with Harper Collins that I'm super excited about!

Me celebrating at Harper Collins Headquarters with the only things you really need for an epic celebration: Snarkles & Sparkling Cider!

And since I hope to get this blog going again, I figured what better way to begin than by taking part in a blog roll?!

The amazing author of HUSH LITTLE BABY, Suzanne Redfearn, invited me to join this blog roll in progress that's all about the writing process. I don't know about you, but I'm always interested in reading about other writer's creative processes, so without further delay, here's mine:

1. WHAT AM I WORKING ON
I’m currently working on the first book in my upcoming YA series, UNRIVALED (in stores early 2016!). It’s a bit of a departure from more recent works as it takes place in the fast-paced world of LA nightclubs, where three teens get caught up in a high-stakes competition and the desperate measures they take to win that make them suspects in a mysterious crime. It’s glamorous, edgy, suspenseful, sexy, and of course, there are loads of cute boys and romance! After writing 14 paranormals over the last 5 years, I’m having a blast returning to my contemporary roots!

2. HOW DOES MY WORK DIFFER FROM OTHERS OF ITS GENRE?
I don’t necessarily set out to make my books different, as I’m not really thinking about anyone else’s books while I’m writing. I just try to write about subjects that are either deeply personal, or deeply interesting to me, and then I create a cast of characters with varying perspectives and try to tell the absolute truth of their journey until ultimately (hopefully!) arriving at some sort of greater, more universal truth by the conclusion.

3. WHY DO I WRITE WHAT I DO?
Nearly all of my books are either reflective of some aspect of my life experience—feeling lost and failing myself miserably back in high school (FAKING 19), dealing with the soul-crushing grief of losing a loved one (SAVING ZOË and THE IMMORTALS series), or sometimes it’s a question or an idea that I’m grappling with—is there life after death? (THE RILEY BLOOM series), destiny vs freewill (THE SOUL SEEKERS series). Sometimes I start out merely exploring an idea, sometimes I’m actively looking for answers, but I’m always changed for having taken the journey alongside the characters.

4. HOW DOES MY WRITING PROCESS WORK?
I’m currently working on my 23rd novel and I can honestly say that my writing process continues to be a work in progress. I went from having no process with my first book (FAKING 19) to evolving to a sort-of three part process that works pretty well by now, but I’m always looking for ways of improving!
It’s basically part ritual—green tea, scented candles, a carefully curated playlist, part process—Blake Snyder’s Save The Cat Beat Sheet that I use as an outline, and a whole lot of discipline—not just the usual Butt In Chair, but rather, Butt Stays In Chair Until The daily Word Count Is In! I find that by doing that repeatedly for several consecutive months, by the end, I have a book!

5. HOW DOES MY WRITING PROCESS NOT WORK?
If my writing process isn't working it’s usually because something in my story isn't working. There’s no magic in the process, it’s merely a tool to get from Chapter 1 to the end. When I’m stuck, I either return to my outline and try to figure out why it isn’t working and where to go next, or I do more research into my characters and their world, or both—it never fails to get the story moving again!

So now I get to tag 3 more authors and trust me, you won't want to miss them!

Up next- the amazing Mary Pearson , author of the incredible JENNA FOX CHRONICLES TRILOGY and THE KISS OF DECEPTION (July 8)-- a book that took my breath away and left me begging for the sequel!

The incredible Kimberly Derting who writes books that I love, love, love like the awesome BODY FINDER series, and more recently, THE TAKING--an amazing book that I was luck enough to blurb!

And, the Fabulous Melissa de la Cruz who writes so many awesome books, it's hard to keep track! Most recently I loved The RING & THE CROWN, and FROZEN--book 1 in the Heart of Dread Series. Her books explore so many interesting worlds--witches, princess, vampires--I can't wait to get a glimpse at her process to see how she does it!

Enjoy!

One More Week!!!

Hey Everyone-

Just one more week until HORIZON hits the stores--but the early reviews are starting to trickle in and this is what they're saying:

“I am definitely marking this series as an absolutely favorite one. . . Everything that unfolds in Horizon is what the entire series has been building up to. It will suck you in and not let you go until you see that last word…Alyson Noel delivers yet again a series that I can get lost in way after the reading is over… I can't recommend it enough…I just can't believe it's over!” Shayna Varadeaux, 5 Stars

"Fans will revel in this truly terrific ending to the SOUL SEEKERS series." 4 Stars   —RT Magazine

“ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT…Told in several different viewpoints, this is one stunning conclusion to a wonderful series…you won't be disappointed..I loved how this ended.” –BookHounds

“Plenty of action and heartbreak …I actually really really like the ending…I think it was absolutely perfect and fitting…It’s a well done and solid final installment in my opinion and if you are fan of the series I think you will definitely be happy with it.” –Library of a Book Witch

“I am a huge fan of Alyson Noel and when I saw the chance to read Horizon I jumped on it. This is the 4th book in the series, and Alyson did not disappoint me one bit. Fun, intriguing, twists and turns, love, and pain. Alyson Noel has a way of transforming her characters, that they pulled me in without even realizing what was happening, and soon I was so caught up, that I hardly realized 2 hours had past. Books like this that can keep my intrigue and keep my mind reeling are reasons why I am a fan of this writer…
Overall I feel that the author did a great job in building the story and the characters. I loved the plot line, and the uniqueness of it all. There is mystery and suspense that had me captivated for hours. I do recommend this series!” Book Boyfriend Reviews, 4 Stars

“…if you have never read the previous books, than this one will get you caught up in what happened in the first three books…The main thing that I do like with this book and the other two books in this series is that the point of view switches between characters. I like learning what Dace and Lita and the others are thinking but I also like how Daire is finally starting to become prepared for whatever is about to happen.” –Panda Book Lover, 4.5 Stars

Everything that went down in the previous books, FATED, ECHO, & MYSTIC , has been leading up to this moment...and I hope you enjoy the explosive ending as much as I enjoyed writing it!

In the meantime, you can get a sneak peek at the first two chapters HERE!!

Also, over on THE SOUL SEEKERS Facebook page, we'll be making some fun posts as part of our daily countdown, so be sure to check by daily!
