Far Behind

Wow.

This week has been crazy busy --so busy I can hardly believe it's already Thursday.

I mean, hel-lo, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday--where the heck did you go?

But even though it went by in such a whirl I can hardly account for it, I do vaguely remember turning in the finished SHADOWLAND manuscript to my awesome editor (insert very loud YIPEE!! here), followed by some serious catch-up on The Stack of e-mails (which I still haven't gotten through but am making serious progress), To Do lists, mailings, b-board posts, and interviews, one of which is HERE!

Oh, and yesterday I learned that EVERMORE remains in the #1 spot on the New York Times Best Sellers List for Children's Paperbacks for the 8th week straight, and hit #51 on the USA Today list as well! So thank YOU for that.

And I finally got around to uploading (or is it downloading, or just loading?) the photos taken at last week's Taft High School Passport to Reading Event, followed by the trip to the Getty Museum in which I spent serious time "researching" an exhibit Ever and Damen check out in

SHADOWLAND.  Followed by a celebrity sighting at a restaurant, (see post below), where for the life of me I could not remember who it was I was sneaking peeks at, but then later, while watching an old episode of Dead Like Me, I realized it was Mandy Patinkin!

Okay, back to The Stack for me!!

Have a good day everyone!

Oh, and the Scavenger Hunt is on! The awesome, up and coming, debut author, Kay Cassidy, has gathered over 1oo YA authors, asking them to come up with ten questions each, relating to their books. All you need to do to play is download the questionnaires, fill in the answers, and send them to Kay for your chance to enter the monthly drawing for a $50 book voucher.

All eight of my YA titles are on there, and all you have to do to get started is click HERE.

*** VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE RE: THE SCAVENGER HUNT***

I've just been informed that all scavenger hunts must go through a participating library in order to be eligible for the contest. So, rather than clicking on the link above, please visit your local library to enter, since only libraries can register for The Hunt.

If you wish to participate, please visit your local librarian and if they're not familiar with The Hunt, please direct them to it!!

Thanks so much and sorry for any misunderstanding!

Alyson

Weekend Update

So, I had a great time yesterday, participating in the Taft High School PASSPORT TO READING event

Where I caught up with friends, hung out with the funny, sweet, and talented, Debby Garfinkle, and spoke with some really great students about the publishing process. Everything that happens between the initial idea that sparks the story, to the final product--the book on the shelf-- with lots of visual aids to illustrate the journey.

After that I met up with the amazing, Jessica Brody, whose poised to make her author debut, and who also happens to be so cute, so talented, so sweet, so funny, so smart, so nice, so gifted, so genuine, you can't help but like her. I was lucky enough to get an early peek at her debut novel, THE FIDELITY FILES (coming June 10), and I'm telling you, it's so good-- I could barely put it down. It's about this girl who works as an infidelity inspector, and then, well, why not click HERE to watch the best book trailer you've ever seen (seriously), and read more about it!

Later that evening, my husband and I met up with some friends for a special premier screening of the TV show, GHOST WHISPERER, which was so fun to watch on a movie theater sized screen. Then after the credits rolled, the show's executive producers, writers, directors, costume designers, set designers, actors- including Camryn Manheim, David Conrad, and that hunky young new guy who plays Camryn's son (sorry, his name escapes me, but just know he's even hunkier in person), and, of course, the amazing James Van Praagh, took the stage where they engaged in a really fun and super informative Q&A.

And best of all--well, aside from hanging with friends and having fun, it totally qualified as research! I swear, ever since I started writing my EVERMORE books, the research gets better and better!

But since today is turning out to be far more humble, and hardly worth writing about, filled with all manner of laundry and other household "to-dos," I'll just go about my business, and try not to bore you with the details!

Happy Sunday everyone!

PS- Oh, and I wanted to add that for those of you looking for autographed copies, yesterday I stopped by the Barnes & Noble in the Westside Pavillion, chatted with the super friendly and knowledgeable staff (seriously, like the nicest, most helpful employees evah), and signed multiple copies of LAGUNA COVE, KISS & BLOG, and SAVING ZOE!

Passport to Reading!

I'm really excited to announce that I'll be participating in the Passport to Reading event, sponsored by Taft High School in Woodland Hills, CA, on Saturday April 5, 2008, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It's a celebration of one of my favorite things-- reading! And I'll be joined by lots of amazing authors, illustrators, and storytellers. My session is scheduled for 11:00 -- and I really hope to see YOU there!
